The
United Nations has designated 2014 as the
International Year of Crystallography. I'm happy to celebrate this designation, since I frequently used
crystallography in my work.[1]
Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day,
December 25, 1642.
This engraving shows Newton in 1677, when he was a postgraduate at Trinity college, Cambridge.
The festive hat and candy cane have been added by the author using the Free and Open-Source Software tools, Inkscape and GIMP.
