Christmas 2013

December 23, 2013

Tikalon is on a holiday break, and I'll publish the first blog article of the new year on Friday, January 3, 2014.

The United Nations has designated 2014 as the International Year of Crystallography. I'm happy to celebrate this designation, since I frequently used crystallography in my work.[1]

Isaac Newton in a Santa hat

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day,
December 25, 1642.

This engraving shows Newton in 1677, when he was a postgraduate at Trinity college, Cambridge.

The festive hat and candy cane have been added by the author using the Free and Open-Source Software tools, Inkscape and GIMP.
